What to wear:
Close fitting long pants or riding breeches, safety helmet with harness (We do provide helmets for everyone’s use), boots or leather shoes with a flat sole and small heel; canvas shoes are generally unacceptable unless specifically designed as a riding sneaker. During cold weather months, include warm, flexible gloves and warm socks, especially if wearing rubber boots.
Cancellation Policy:
Please cancel your riding lesson at least 24 hours in advance. Lessons not cancelled 24 hours in advance will still be charged for their lesson, except in emergency cases or bad weather. Please always call to confirm lesson cancellation even with bad weather.
Make up Policy:
One makeup lesson per session; there is no carryover between sessions. There will be no “make-up” lesson other than that planned by your instructor. (A session is monthly)
Siblings and other children:
All children, both students and visitors are to be supervised by a parent or responsible adult at all times. Much of our land is for grazing horses and growing hay/crops; you may watch them from afar. Do not mingle in a herd of loose horses. Please do not feed them either. Running and excessive noise is not safe around horses.
Parents:
Parents are encouraged to observe; however, discouraged from assisting with any mounting or other skills procedures.
Late arrival:
If you arrive late for a scheduled lesson (group or private) you may not be permitted to join the group if the group has already mounted and left the area. Any class disruption must be minimized. Late students are encouraged to watch the class in progress.
Inclement weather:
If the weather is inclement or if conditions exist where a mounted lesson is not feasible, and unmounted or “stable” lesson will take place. Both mounted and unmounted skills standards exist for each riding level. Students are expected to gain this knowledge as opportunity permits. Because we stress the importance of safe ground handling of horses, occasionally, a portion of the lesson may be devoted to unmounted work regardless of the weather. We do not cancel lessons just because it may be raining or cold. So please call before assuming they are canceled.
Times:
Lessons are available all days except Sunday and Monday. Sunday is a day of rest at the farm and Monday is reserved for make up lessons.
